There are a few places lately that nuns have been showing up and surprising us all. Like the “Spurs Nuns,” who would be at the NBA team’s playoff and Finals games wearing jerseys and praying for the squad courtside. And now, there’s a set of sisters in podcasting.
The Dominican Sisters Open Mic really started popping off on TikTok back in March and April. But two days ago, a clip went viral of the host, Sister Miriam, asking one of the other nuns if she had a hobby and her super relatable response dropped these women, and their podcast, back into the center of internet obsession.
Some folks have been locked in on these queens for months now. But new viewers and commenters have been eating this up and even taking on Sister Miriam’s exclamatory affirmations of “Sister, you are so good at that!” and “Sister, yessss!” Others are simply moved and inspired by the way these nuns are showing up and taking up space on the internet. One commenter wrote, “their laughter seems so stress free,” and another added, “Sisters, I also want that regulated nervous system laugh.” Literally same.
Between all the idiotic, unqualified men with microphones and platforms who do nothing but waste their breath and our time, these nuns are exactly what the people need. And they should be the only ones allowed to have a podcast. Well, them and Keke Palmer. Consider this my petition to get those women to link up for a diva convention on the Dominican Sisters Open Mic pod!
